When you think about Connecticut, a few things likely come to mind: pizza, preppies, basketball, traffic on I-95, and Gilmore Girls. And all that's pretty accurate. But you may not know that Connecticut was once the center of the silk industry in the United States. Our team at Mulberry Park Silks is quite proud of the fact that we are a US-based company headquartered in Branford, Connecticut (unlike so many in the silk industry whose operations are entirely offshore). With August 10th being National Connecticut Day, we're taking the opportunity to zoom in a little closer on our location and highlight our state's unique-and surprising-place in the history of our favorite fabric, silk.

Real silk sheets keep your hair and skin hydrated (unlike cotton sheets which pull moisture away from your skin); prevent tangles, frizz, and bedhead; and naturally regulate body temperature. Remember that pure silk fabric is made from the hygienic, protective cocoon of the silkworm; it is naturally hypoallergenic and gentle on sensitive skin. Satin sheets, on the other hand, are made from petroleum-based polyester or nylon; a satin sheet set will never deliver the benefits of genuine mulberry silk bed sheets.
